Fairytale of New York
"Fairytale of New York" is an Irish folk style ballad by the Celtic punk group The Pogues, released in 1987. It has frequently been cited as the best Christmas song of all. The song follows an Irish immigrant's Christmas Eve reverie about holidays past while sleeping off a binge in a New York City drunk tank. When an inebriated old man also in the cell sings a passage from the Irish ballad "The Rare Old Mountain Dew", the narrator (MacGowan) begins to dream about the song's female character. The remainder of the song (which may be an internal monologue) takes the form of a dialogue between the couple, their youthful hopes crushed by alcoholism and drug addiction, as they reminisce and bicker on Christmas Eve.

Christmas is coming!
It's almost Christmas time, and what better way to celebrate it than by listening to a carol?
Here's the last song by Coldplay, a beautiful Christmas song. I hope you like it!

Autumn begins today!
Get into the autumn mood by listening to some music:
and reading a poem:
?????????

by Elsie N. Brady
How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.
By the way, what do you think is the title of the poem? If you know, leave a comment with your answer!

Misheard lyrics
Did you know that sometimes the songs in English (or in any other foreign language) hide secret messages in Spanish?
In the radio program No somos nadie, and later in the TV programs Channel nº4 and El Hormiguero, they used to collect this kind of songs, under the name "momentos teniente".
Here you have a sample. Can you hear the Spanish words?
(If you want to hear more of these, type "momentos teniente" in YouTube). Enjoy yourselves!

Eurovision Song Contest
Last night Spain voted that our representative in this year's Eurovision Song Contest will be Rodolfo Chikilicuatre, with the song Baila el Chiki Chiki. The song was selected by internet voters in MySpace, and then won in the TV final.
Spain won't be the only country to send an unusual singer to the contest. Ireland may be breaking all the records by sending Dustin the turkey, with the song Ireland douze points!
